Alfred (Bud) Harold Daniel, Jr., 83, passed away June 12, 2015 at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community in Buhler, Kansas. He was born to Alfred and Elma Long Daniel on March 31, 1932 in Rocky Ford, Colorado.
He worked at Bond Bakery, Graber Furniture, had his own lawn service, and was employed by Carey Salt for 36 years. He retired from Carey Salt as a top floor foreman in January 1987 after suffering a stroke and epilepsy. He enjoyed working with his hands doing woodwork, and making Wizard of Oz tin men. He could work on anything.
On July 20, 1950 he married Bertha Marie Russell in Hutchinson, Kansas. She preceded him in death October 30, 2012.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Brenda Pardee (companion, Charles) and Roberta (Don) Atkinson; 1 son, Allen (Dona) Daniel; 2 brothers, Chester "Sonny" Daniel and Wilburn "Jackie" Daniel; 2 sisters, Leona Dauber and Marie (Owen) Russell; 5 grandchildren, James "Jimmie" Mahoney, Gloria Mendoza, Otha "Porky" Lollar, Delana McClurkin, and Donovan Atkinson, Jr.; eleven great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Raymond, sisters Wanda, Martha and Maxine, 3 brothers in law, Carl Dauber, Bob Surridge, Bob Easter.
A public gathering will be held Thursday June 18, 2015 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Old Mission - Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas. A celebration of life will be held Friday, June 19, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home, at the funeral home as well. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Burial Park. In lieu of flowers the family has established a memorial and gifts may be made to Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community or the Hutchinson Salt Museum and left in care of the funeral home.
