Allen Garrett, Jr., 82, of Sterling, Kansas, entered eternal life on January 16, 2019 at Sterling Presbyterian Manor. Allen was born on May 30, 1936, the son of Allen and Eleanor Durrell Garrett in Council Grove, Kansas. He graduated in 1954 from Council Grove High School.

Allen was a control Technician for A.N.R. Pipeline. Upon his retirement from A. N. R. he started his own business – Garrett Pasture Clearing, cutting trees and brush out of pastures.

He married the love of his life, Connie Jo Christiansen on May 19, 1965 in Abilene, Kansas and they celebrated 53 glorious years of marriage.

Survivors include his wife, Connie; 2 sons, Blaine (Wendy) Garrett and Shannon (Kimberly) Garrett; 1 daughter, Kim Rich; 2 sisters, Ethel (Allan J.) Hastings and Edith Peterson; 5 grandchildren, Beth (Ryan) Asbury, Alaina Garrett, Audrey (Jeremy) Koehler, Jayleene Garrett, and, Taylor Garrett; 2 great grandchildren, Brandon and Brent Asbury. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 sisters, Marjorie Deering, Mildred Garrett, Pauline King, Lois Cox, Dorothy Dozier, Evelyn Garrett; 1 son-in-law, Jerry Rich.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. The First United Methodist Church of Sterling, Kansas, 137 N. Broadway, Sterling, Kansas. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to First United Methodist Church of Sterling, Hope in the Valley Equine Rescue, or, Sterling Presbyterian Manor, and in care of Old Mission – Heritage funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas.
