Bessie Marie Henderson, 81, gained her heavenly wings April 20, 2018 at Wesley Towers in Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born January 31, 1937 in Bentonville, Arkansas, the daughter of Jack and Velma Squires. She was not only a retired cook, but she was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was a master at crochet; she would spend hours at her craft singing her favorite gospel songs. Playing games with her family, providing love and care for them was her ultimate goal. She was fascinated with the Arkansas Mountains especially the heavenly views that they portrayed to her.

She married William Marion Henderson on May 21, 1954 in Monette, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on February 18, 2012.

Survivors include 4 sons Marion (Delaine), Frank, Harold (Trina) Henderson, Harry Hill; 2 daughters, Valma Collins and Sally Spencer; 5 brothers James, Rodger, John (Debbie), Jack (Donna) and Dick (Joyce) Squires; 2 sisters Beverly Vest and Thelma (Tony) McCormick; 15 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers and sisters, 1 daughter, Tiny Jean.

A gathering for family and friends will be held Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Old Mission – Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Reno County Soup Kitchen and left in care of the funeral home.
