Obituary

Billie Jean Gilbert, 85, passed away November 11, 2013 at Hospice House of Reno County. She was born August 2, 1928 in Canton, Kansas, the daughter of William and Veva Mae Hager.

A graduate of McPherson High School, she was a bookkeeper by trade and worked for Collingwood Grain, among other businesses. She loved the intrigue of Danielle Steel novels, gambling, traveling, dancing, bowling, and, most of all attending Native American Pow Wows.

On May 25, 1970 she married James F. Gilbert in Miami, Oklahoma. He survives. She is also survived by 4 sons, Shawn Stanfield, Mark Stanfield, James L. Gilbert, and, Steven Gilbert; 4 daughters, Kym Stanfield, Betsy Camp, Sandy Knoll, and, Linda Gilbert; 14 grandchildren, Sara Marie, Brooke, Brian, Rachel, Kelsey, Shannon, Brandon, James L. Jr., Nicole, Jacqueline, David, Michael, Katie, Jessica, and 17 great grandchildren, Arciella, Landyn, Elexa, Nathan, Emily, Abby, Reese, Uriah, Mariah, Aliah, Jordyan, Sincear, Destiny, Sirr, Samuael, Braiden and Jennifer. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Brock.

Public visitation will be Thursday, November 14, 2013 from 4:00 -8:00 at Old Mission - Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas, with the family present from 5:00 - 7:00. A celebration of Life will be held Friday, November 15, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Jimmy Wray Mead presiding. Internment will take place at a later date.
