South Hutchinson - Carol J. Rutan, 72 passed away May 21, 2016 at her home in South Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born May 23, 1943 to Gene and Frances Lytle in Canton, Oklahoma. She spent over 40 years in the nursing field, working at the local hospital. She fought five courageous years against cancer.

On July 20, 1959 she married Larry F. Rutan. He survives. Other survivors include her daughters, Cheryl (Rock) Malmstrom, and Sheila (Marvin) Blanton; her grandchildren, Aleashia (Blane) Tanner, Lance (Jenny) Rutan, Brice Rutan, Halee Malmstrom-McIver; her great grandchildren, Matthew, Ireland, AnnaBeth, and Colt; her brothers Jessie and Jerrie Jenkins of Longdale, Oklahoma. As well as her dear friend of 40 years, Beverly Kauffman. She was preceded in death by her parents and two day old sister, Theresha Jenkins.

A private family viewing has been held and private burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Hutchinson Animal Shelter or Cancer Fund of Reno County.
