Carolyn Berry Sumruld, 72, passed peacefully to her heavenly home on November 15, 2018 at Hospice House in Hutchinson, Kansas after an extended illness.
Carolyn was born August 22, 1946 in Brownsfield, Texas. She attended school in Roswell, New Mexico and graduated from Lovington High School. She married Ray Sumruld on December 4, 1964 and together they raised their family in Tucumcari, New Mexico.
Carolyn was very active in her community. She was an Extension Club member, A Qua County Fair Volunteer, 4-H leader, and a member of Quay Z Quilters. Carolyn owned and operated Quay Quiltary. She especially enjoyed sharing her talents by teaching others.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter Tara McCasland and husband Mark; three grandchildren, Sara McCasland and Adam, Melanie McCasland and Justin, all of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Rebecca Meitler and Sheldon of Buhler, Kansas; six great grandchildren, Colby, Baylee, Jadyn, Hunter, Rylie and Rein.
Per her request cremation has taken place and a private family celebration will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Memorial gifts may be made to The Fathers House and left in care of Old Mission – Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas.
