Charles D. Lanam, 83, went to be with his Lord and Savior, December 19, 2014. A resident of McPherson, Kansas, he was born in Hutchinson, Kansas, November 11, 1931, son of Wallace and Elizabeth Lanam. He was a longtime shipping and receiving shop foreman of Moridge Manufacturing.
He had a love for the outdoors and was an avid raccoon hunter and fisherman. Tinkering with vehicles and carpentry was a favorite pastime. His true passion was spending time with his grandchildren.
He married Jaclan Kaye Taylor on January 8, 1968 in Kingman, Kansas, She survives. Other survivors include two step sons, Michael (Lori) and Randy Cavanaugh; 2 step daughters, Kim (Tim) Dreiling and Diana Sandoval; 1 brother, Jimmie Lanam; 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, 3 sisters, 2 grandsons Rion Sandoval and Travis Dreiling; 1 granddaughter, Jessa Cavanaugh; and one daughter, Michelle Diane Lanam.
Public visitation will be Tuesday, December 23, 2014 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm at Old Mission - Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas. A celebration of life will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Penwell - Gabel Cemetery, Hutchinson, Kansas.
