Craig Allen Bertholf, 69, of Peabody, Kansas, has gone to heaven to be welcomed in God's Love on December 7, 2019, at Peabody Health and Rehabilitation, Peabody, Kansas. Craig was born June 16, 1950 in Kingman, Kansas. The son of Donald Earl and Phyllis Irene ( Dennett ) Bertholf. His childhood was made difficult with the cruel disease of Polio, he suffered numerous operations and body braces and crutches because of the disease. It taught him to have a fighting spirit to never give up, to keep on trying, and he always did that despite the limp the disease caused him. He was a graduate in 1968 from Kingman High School. He went to college at Kansas University and studied journalism. He was proud to grow up on a farm and ranch, in his heart, he was always a farmer and rancher even when he was far from home, and that is where his love of horses began. He was a self taught classical and flamenco guitar player. He always looked up to his older brother and his Dad, and wanted to be like them. He also watched out for his younger brother and baby sister and kept them from harm. The love of his Mom's chocolate chip cookies made her an Angel in his eyes, and all her cooking he enjoyed. Life threw another cruel curve ball at him at the end of his life with Alzheimer's and dementia, he didn't recognize us now, but it took him back to happier younger days, and that was a blessing for him. He is whole and complete once again in Heaven with the rest of our family and the family reunion they are having is our comfort.
Survivors include: 1 brother, Terry ( Linda ) Bertholf, Olathe, Kansas; 1 sister, Robyn McInturff, Nickerson, Kansas; 3 nephews and 1 niece; numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, and 1 brother, Scott Bertholf.
Cremation has taken place. A family graveside service took place on May 29, 2021 at Cleveland Cemetery.
