Darlene Schamle, 81, passed away January 3, 2016 at Buhler Sunshine Meadows, Buhler, Kansas. She was born September 17, 1934 in Clay Center, Kansas, the daughter of Carl and Hattie Hoffman. She was a dedicated and loving homemaker.

Darlene was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church where she was part of the altar society and bible study groups. In her early days she loved to roller skate. She had a fascination for reading history, was an avid gardener, loved traveling, camping and boating with her family,

On February 5, 1955 she married Dale Arthur Schamle in Ottawa, Kansas. He survives of the home. Other survivors include 2 sons, Douglas (Martha) and John (Jody) Schamle; 1 daughter, Catherine (Douglas) McMurphy, all of Hutchinson, Kansas; 1 sister in law, Nadine Hoffman, Springfield, Missouri; 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, and, 1 brother.

A rosary for Darlene will take place at 7:00 pm Friday, January 8, 2016 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hutchinson, Kansas. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hutchinson, Kansas. In lieu of flowers the family has established memorials to Holy Cross Catholic Church or Alzheimer''s Research Association, and may be left in care of the funeral home.
