Deborah " Debbie " Ann Thurman, 58, passed away in Lyons, Kansas on June 8, 2021.  She was born on September 28, 1962 in Heidelberg, Germany to James Robert and Donna Joan " Jody King" ( Gardner) Powell.  Debbie grew up in Nickerson, Kansas.  In 1981 she married Doug Thurman and moved to the Lyons, Kansas area where they raised their family.  Debbie was a homemaker most of her life; cooking and caring for her family is what gave her joy.  She also enjoyed playing BINGO and doodling.

She is survived by Doug; their children:  Aletha Grasle ( Jason), Doug, Jessie, and James Thurman all of Lyons; their pride and joy, their grandchildren:  Kirsten, Alyssa, Kinsley, Izaac, Kaylen, Landon, Emmalynn, Zyler, Bentlee, and Maddyx; her siblings:  Donna Truitt ( David), David Gardner, and John Powell ( Kathy) of Hutchinson, and Andrew Gardner and Jeffrey Payne of Nickerson; her stepdad: Kenny King of Nickerson; as well as many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by both her parents, her sister Sharon Gronwick, and her mother-in-law, Elsie Critchfield.

Memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Nickerson, Kansas at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2021.
