Obituary

Donald Lee Buffington, 90, passed away surrounded by his loving family, September 21, 2017 at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born February 8, 1927 in Little River, Kansas, the son of Lee and Ethel Buffington. He was a retired construction worker, specializing in welding construction.

A veteran of the United States Navy, he served his country during World War II, he belonged the VFW, was a member of the Mason''s for 65 years, and was a member of South Hutchinson Methodist Church. His family was his passion and he worked and worked to make sure that his family had everything they needed.

On August 5, 1950 he married Joyce Eileen Harris in Marquette, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include 1 son, Darrel (Maria Fatima) Buffington; 2 daughters, Marilyn (Gary) Cornell, Tricia (Mark) Cotton; 1 sister, Peggy Berry; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service with military honors will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Bean Cemetery, Little River, Kansas with a celebration of life to follow at the South Hutchinson Methodist Church, South Hutchinson, Kansas. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial gifts be made to Mennonite Friendship Communities or Hospice and Home Health Care of Reno County and left in care of Old Mission - Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas.
