Donald Eugene Ketchum, 90, left this earth for his eternal home in Heaven on October 8, 2011. He was born January 28, 1921 in Rural Haven, Kansas to Charles T. and Vina C. (Rumple) Ketchum. Donald graduated from Red Hill School near Pretty Prairie, Kansas. He was a farmer and retired from Barton Salt Company. He loved listening to gospel music, gardening, and was a member of the Westside Baptist Church where he was a member for many years. Donald married Katie M. Gough on May 27, 1953, and had just recently moved to Sunshine Meadows Retirement Home in Buhler, Kansas after residing in Hutchinson since 1954.
Preceding him in death were his parents; 2 brothers, Sterling and Ray Ketchum; 3 sisters, Erma Robinson, Zelma Goering, and Marjorie Tucker; and a son- in- law, Bob Lawson.
Leaving to mourn his passing is his wife, Katie of Buhler, Ks.; a daughter and son- in- law, Barbara and Ken Turner of Hutchinson, Ks.; 3 grandchildren, Bret (Tracy) Lawson of Partridge, Ks., Cynthia Lawson of Jerusalem, Israel, and Tamara (Maury) Hoefer of Hutchinson, Ks.; 5 great grandchildren, Danielle Lehman, James Lawson, Cammie Lehman, Faith Lawson and Anna Lawson; 2 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation has been scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Westside Baptist Church on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Tim Adrian officiating, and burial following at Fairlawn Cemetery, Hutchinson, Kansas.
