Donald Keith Peterson, 83, stepped into eternal life surrounded by his family December 11, 2016 at Hospice House of Reno County, Hutchinson, Kansas. The son of E. Keith and Ruth Peterson, he was born September 9, 1933 in Yates Center, Kansas. He was the former president of Farmers and Merchants State Bank of Macksville, Kansas, retiring in 2003.
He received his undergraduate degree from Kansas State University and received his Masters Degree from Colorado State University. A was a member of The Father''s Church in Hutchinson, Kansas, served a key role in Full Gospel Men''s Fellowship for the State of Kansas, was involved in Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited. He also was a member of the Kansas State University Alumni Association, Kansas Bankers Association, and was a former board member of DCI in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was a master fisherman and hunter and spent hours teaching his grandsons the art of the outdoors.
On June 20, 1954 he married the love of his life, Carol Ruth Tannahill in Yates Center, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include his children, Tanna (Tom) Faulkner, Beth Irvin, Lynn (Jan) Peterson; 2 half sisters Abby (Frank) Hopkins, Sue (Scott) Peters; 9 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A gathering for family and friends will be held Friday, December 16, 2016 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Old Mission - Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas. A private graveside service for family and close friends will be Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 9:30 am at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th, Hutchinson, Kansas. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am at The Father''s House, 1520 E. 20th, Hutchinson, Kansas with Bishop Quintin Moore presiding. In lieu of flowers the family has established a memorial with gifts to be made to The Father''s House and may be left in care of the funeral home.
