Obituary

Douglas James Pitzer, 60, passed away at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center November 6, 2016. A native of Hutchinson, Kansas, he was born January 8, 1956, the son of Clarence and Carol Pitzer, he was a retired machinist from Consolidated Industries, and recently was a team member of PRA Group.

An avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, he was a member of the Sky Ryders Drum and Bugle Corps, loved to ride motorcycles with friends and family, enjoyed camping with his family at Harvey County West Park, took time to teach and coach softball and baseball. His family was the most important part of his life.

He married his wife Debra, in Hutchinson, Kansas at Bethany Nazarene Church on February 4, 1983. She survives.

Other survivors include, 1 son, Justin L. (Denise) of Pittsburg, Kansas; 2 daughters, Stephanie A. (Tory) Pitzer of South Hutchinson, Kansas, Amy N. Pitzer of Joplin, Missouri; 1 brother, Rick (Kim) Pitzer of Hutchinson, Kansas; 1 sister, Kay Hermes (John) of Hutchinson, Kansas; 1 grandson, Braxton Pitzer. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 granddaughter, Madyson.

A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Darrell Bisel presiding at Old Mission - Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund and gifts may be made to the South Hutchinson Fire Department and may be left in care of the funeral home.
