Eddie Lee Cole, 81, passed away August 15, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Village, Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born on June 9, 1933 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Merle and Ethel Cole. He was a retired employee of Boeing Aircraft.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, and, as a result of injury received a Purple Heart Medal for his bravery. He loved to play pool, loved to watch and cheer on his beloved Kansas City Chiefs, was an avid NASCAR fan, and, enjoyed whatever sport there was to watch or listen to.

He is survived by two sons; Monte Cole (Trish) of San Diego, California, and, Gary Cole of Costa Mesa, California; 2 grandchildren; Lindsey Cole and Justin Cole; 3 cousins; Shirley Watson of Hutchinson, Kansas, ,Dixie Newell of Newton, Kansas and Wanda Conrad of Hutchinson, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Michael.

Public visitation will be Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm with the family present from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Old Mission - Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas. Graveside service with military honors will be Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Eastside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund to Good Samaritan Village and those gifts may be left in care of the funeral home.
