Elma Jean Swearengin was born April 1, 1932 in Wherry, Kansas((Rice County) to Orville and Wave (Kirkhuff) Hauschild. She died at the Mennonite Freindship Manor on March 18, 2011 at the age of 78. Elma was a retired Certified Lab Assistant for Hutchinson Hospital and loved to paint, volunteer and was an avid History buff.
Preceding her in death was her son, Donnie Beem. She will be missed by her family: 2 sons, Steve (Mary Ruth) Beem of Leavenworth, Ks., Ronnie Beem of Hutchinson, Ks.; 2 daughters, Penny DeMoure of Wichita, Ks.and Heide (Larry) Chaney of McPherson, Ks.; 3 brothers, Virgil (Vickie) Hauschild of Atchinson, Ks., Kenneth (Theresa) Hauschild and Don (Marcy) Hauschild both of Wichita, Ks; 5 grandchildren, Emily and Evan Bissell, Jared, Shelly and Stephanie Beem and one great grandson, Payton Beem. A Gathering will be held on Friday, March 25, 2011 from 4:00-8:00 p.m, with the family present from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m at Old Mission-Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main in Hutchinson, Kansas. In lieu of flowers the family has requested the following memorials to Reno County Historical Society; Hospice Care of Kansas, Mennonite Friendship Manor, and Delos V. Smith Senior Center, Hutchinson, Kansas.
