Obituary

Fay D. Smith was born April 3, 1931 in Optima, OK. to Howard and Ethel (Whaley)
Smith. He passed away at his home in Nickerson, Ks. on August 5, 2013 at the age of 82.
Fay retired from the Kansas Dept of Transportation and was a US Navy Veteran serving
4 years. Fay married Beverly Davis and to this union 4 children were born; Gwendolen,
Gale, Troy, and Gina. He later married Anah Marie Hinkle and added 2 step-daughters,
Cynde and Vicky and a son of the heart, Mark Musso.
Fay is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anah Marie Hinkle Smith (2006); son,
Troy Smith (1994); a brother, Lawrence Smith (2012); and a great-granddaughter, Shelby
Stowell (2009). He leaves to mourn his passing 3 daughters, Gwendolen (Bryan)
Stowell of Nickerson, Ks., Gale Buckwalter (Alan Janzen), Gina (John) Scott both of
Hutchinson, Ks. ; step-daughters, Cynde (Dave) Wedel of Buhler, Ks. and Vicky Metz of
Kansas City, Ks.; a sister, Delores "Sis" Cook of Hutchinson, Ks. and sister- in- law,
Maxine Smith of Arizona; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; son of the heart,
Mark Musso and a niece and nephews.
Memorials have been established with the American Cancer Society and Hospice of Reno
County. The family has chosen cremation. A Memorial Graveside Service will be held
at Fairlawn Cemetery on Monday, August 12 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Military Honors. A
Celebration of Life gathering at Fay's house will be held after the service. Old Mission-
Heritage Funeral Home and Cremation Services are entrusted with the arrangements.
