With loving hearts, we celebrate the life of Floyd Lamar Trass, affectionately known as Lamar, who went to be with the Lord on August 3, 2026.

Lamar was born on January 31, 1957, and graduated from Hutchinson High School in Hutchinson, Kansas. While in high school, he enjoyed playing basketball and was proudly voted Sweetheart King, a testament to the kindness and friendship he shared with others.

Lamar proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for six years, including four years and three months as a Law Enforcement Specialist. His faithful service earned him several military honors, including the Air Force Training Ribbon, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, and Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon. He was honorably discharged for his dedicated service.

Lamar found joy in the simple things in life. He loved fishing, cheering on his beloved Kansas City Chiefs, and, above all, spending time with his family. Most importantly, he loved the Lord. His faith transformed his life, and he walked with a grateful heart, finding peace and purpose in God's love.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt Trass and Lucilla Trass of Hutchinson, Kansas, and his brothers, Frankie Reed and Willie Trass of Jackson, Mississippi.

He leaves to cherish his memory one beloved aunt; six sisters; four brothers; his children, Cherie Mims of Pearland, Texas, Charla Mackey of China Springs, Texas, Shameika Mims and Corey Mims of Waco, Texas, along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.

Lamar will be remembered for his loving heart, his faithful service to his country, his unwavering faith in God, and the love he gave so freely to his family. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy of faith, strength, and love will live on in all who knew him.
