Francis "Frank" L. Harrington, 92, passed away September 1, 2013 at Hospice
House of Reno County, Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born September 17, 1920,
in Williamsburg, Kansas, the son of Samuel and Mary Harrington. A proud
veteran of World War II, he was grain inspector for the State of Kansas.
He was a devoted family man who enjoyed a good laugh, playing cards,
dominoes, gardening, and a competitive game of croquet. To many he will be
remembered for walking his geese and greeting all as he passed them by.
On May 8, 1941 he married Merdella Ast in Emporia, Kansas. She preceded him
in death on May 19, 1994.
He is survived by 3 sons, Michael, Rick, and James; 3 daughters, Janet, Karen,
and Rhonda; 1 brother, Robert, and, 1 sister, Florence; 18 grandchildren, 33
great grandchildren, and, 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death
by his parents, 3 brothers, and, 2 sisters.
Public visitation will be Thursday, September 5, 2013 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm with
rosary at 6:00, at Old Mission - Heritage Funeral Home. The family will be
present from 5:00 - 7:00. Funeral service will be at 10:00, Friday, September 6,
2013 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Ned Blick presiding.
Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Abliene, Kansas with full military
honors present. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to
Hospice House of Reno County, or, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and
may be left in care of the funeral home.
