Obituary

Gilbert L. Byroad, 95, passed away February 19, 2013 at Asbury Park Nursing Center, Newton, Kansas. He was born December 7, 1917, in Park, North Dakota, the son of Clarence and Florence Byroad. A former resident of Hutchinson, he was an electrician by trade.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. A veteran of World War II, he served in the 113th Naval Construction Battalion (Sea-b's). He enjoyed playing golf, silver smithing, was a member of the IBEW, local Chapter 661, and also was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hutchinson.
He married Dorothy Rowen on July 13, 1939, in Coleraian, Minnesota. She preceded him in death on August 13, 2006. He is survived by: a daughter, Ardith Alexander (Frank) of Hutchinson, Kansas: a son, Robert Byroad (Jane Ann) of Spring, Texas; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Memorial service will be announced and held at a later date. There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place.
Old Mission-Heritage Funeral Home, Hutchinson, Kansas is in charge of local arrangements.
