H. Jean Odland, 84, passed away in to the loving arms of her Lord and Savior December 29, 2015 surrounded by her family at Wesley Towers. She was born March 16, 1931 in Sturgis, South Dakota, the daughter of Harry and Hildur Carlson. She was a retired educator and innovator in nursing education.
A graduate of Sturgis High School and later Augustana College, she served as director of public health in Scott County, Kansas, worked as a staff member of Hospice of Hutchinson, and worked for the WIC program of Reno County until her retirement in 1993. She was a devout prayer warrior as a member of Crossroads Christian Church, enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, and, listening to classical music, old fashion hymns and Christian music.
She is survived by her husband, Robert of the home; 2 daughters, Kathy (Mark) Wells, Lori (Tim) Burton 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Per her request cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be announced at later date.
