Helen K. McFadden, 96, passed away August 25, 2024, in Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born to Glenn and Bertha Dewald on February 6, 1928, in Hutchinson, Kansas. In her younger years Helen enjoyed taking photographs of horses, she loved her plants and flowers so much that when she would clean them, she would sing to them. After her marriage to Lewis, Helen would go dancing and follow the country band that Lewis was apart of. After Lewis fell ill, she went back to work at Sterling Drug and retired again in 1990. Helen had every kind of animal in their home in Nickerson, she loved tending to her ducks and shooing them back into the pen if they got out. In her later years she volunteered at the Senior center in Nickerson and was the Museum curator in Lyons. During her time at Wesley Towers, she told lots of stories about her family. She was a proud 2 time blue star mother, having raised a sailor and marine deployed during the Vietnam era. Helen is survived by her son, Michael McFadden; granddaughter, Megan McFadden; daughter in law, Kathy Withrow; grandson, Chad Withrow (Christi); granddaughter, Julie Withrow Bowers (Mitchell); great grandchildren and many other family and friends. She is preceded by her parents; husband, Lewis and son, Terry Withrow.
