Jack Amos Carey, 93, passed away, as a result of a car accident on November 11, 2015 in Forrest City, Arkansas. The son of Marlin and Grace Carey, he was born September 11, 1922 in Cash, Arkansas. He was a retired worker for Ivan Murrow Foundry, Coffeyville, KS for 52 years retiring in 2001.

A proud member of the United States Army, he served in World War II as a private first Class and earned the World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon, and two Bronze Service Stars. He was also a life member of the American Legion and VFW. After returning home from active duty he went to work at the foundry. In his spare time and in his retirement he loved to garden, go fishing, and mow lawns which included The Moose Lodge. His family was the love of his life.

He is survived by two daughters, Sheila (Steve, Sr.) Burt, Jackie (James) McCuistion; 3 brothers, Joe (Imogene) Carey, Archie Carey, Floyd (Patty) Carey; 3 sisters, Martha "Sis" Wilson, Bobbie Sue Wilson, Bunch (Joe) Span; 3 grandchildren, Stephanie (Dale) Pauley, Steve (Traci) Burt, Jr., Melissa Lemons; 8 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Pauline, and his companion, Darlene Daines.

A gathering for family and friends will be held Friday, November 20, 2015 from 12:00 pm with a service of reflection, with Pastor Harold Nelson presiding, to follow at 2:00 pm at Old Mission - Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas. Inurnment will follow at Fairlawn Burial Park with military honors.
