January 6, 1974 – April 13, 2018
Jacquelyn Elise Kitchen, 44, formerly of Gardner, Kansas, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, April 13, 2018, after a long, courageous struggle with brain cancer. Her deep love for her family and dependence on God strengthened her to endure.
Jackie, as she was known, received a BS degree in Early Childhood Education from Kansas State University. She taught pre-school for several years in Salina at the YMCA, Church of the Cross, and at her own pre-school. After moving to the Kansas City, Kansas area, she became an executive assistant to the owner of a movie theater company until her diagnosis. At that time she became a full-time homemaker.
Jackie attended fellowship Bible Church in Gardner, Kansas, where she was active in MOPS, and activities involving her children. She loved scrapbooking, attending local festivals, and watching her children's sports activities.
She is survived by Joe, her husband of 23 years; her sons Nicholas and Connor; her daughters Alexis and Abigail. Survivors include her parents Robert and Joyce Songer, in-laws Steve and Janice Gentry; her sister, Hillary (Ray) Young, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be this Friday, April 20, 2018 at First Covenant Church, 2625 E. Magnolia Road, Salina, Kansas, at 10:00 A.M. Inurnment will be at approximately 1:00 P.M. at Gypsum Hill Cemetery after a luncheon is served at the church. There will be visitation at the church from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday, April 19, 2018 for friends and family.
