September 20, 1945 – December 11, 2020
James "Jim" Alvin Hufford, 75, earned his wings and passed away after a long battle with cancer at his home, surrounded by family whom he loved. On September 20th, 1945, Jim was born in Eureka, Kansas to his parents John Matthew and Mary E. Kastl Hufford.
Jim was known for his red hair, impish smile, quick wit, love of reading, and thirst for knowledge. He began working at age 10, sitting up pins at a bowling alley. Jim worked in oil fields, grain inspection, and rounded out his work career as a supervisor for Hutchinson Waste Water Treatment Plant.
Jim married Leta Pope Spencer on September 8th, 1967 with whom he had one son, James David Hufford ( Rose McCleland) and bonus children Darren Spencer and Tatia Millison. On June 15th, 1977, Jim married Evelyn Goheen Pinkston whom he adopted Brenda Cole Ellis and Bobby Pinkston with. Bonus children include Larry, Roxanna, and Shelly Pinkston.
Jim is survived by his wife Evelyn Hufford of Hutchinson and 1 sister, Joyce (Terry) Van Buren of South Hutchinson.
He has been preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Howard David Hufford and Paul Henry Hufford.
Per his request, cremation will be taken place with no services at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date due to the COVID restrictions.
