James Wilber
Keever , Sr.
July 10, 1923 – March 1, 2020
James Wilber Keever, Sr., 96, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away March 1, 2020 at Hospice House of Reno County, Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born July 10, 1923 in Burrton, Kansas. The son of James and Eurah Keever. He was the founder of Keever Auto Repair in Hutchinson, Kansas.
A veteran of the United States Navy. He was instrumental in the Sunday School teaching curriculum as a long standing member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Hutchinson. He served as a 16 year volunteer for Reins of Hope in Hutchinson and commonly known as the 'horse whisperer'. He loved to tell jokes and was known to have a story for everything.
On November 21, 1946 he married Clara Friesen in Hutchinson, Kansas. She preceded him in death on November 11, 2002.
Survivors include: one son, James W. ( June) Keever, Jr.; one daughter, Sharolyn ( Phillip) Torgrimson; six grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife; three brothers; three sisters; and one great granddaughter, Amber.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at First Church of the Nazarene, 43rd and Monroe Streets, Hutchinson, Kansas. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, Kansas with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Hospice House of Reno County or Reins of Hope and left in care of Old Mission-Heritage Funeral Home, 528 North Main Street, Hutchinson, Kansas.
Friends may stop by to sign the book on Friday, March 6, 2020 during the hours of 9-5.
