James A. "Jim" Sowers, Jr., 66, passed away May 12, 2018 at Hospice House of Reno County, Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born September 11, 1951 in Clayton, New Mexico, the son of James A. Sr., and Pearl Sowers. He was a retired machinist for Eaton Corporation and retired employee of KSIR, both of Hutchinson, Kansas.
He loved spending time fishing while listening to his favorite traditional and newer country music. He enjoyed hunting in his younger years, but, fishing with his family and friends was more important to him.
In 1997, he married Adaline Lee Ellis in Lyons, Kansas. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include 3 sons, Kevin and Jason Sowers, Richie (Michelle) Ellis all of Hutchinson, Kansas; 2 daughters, Mary (Lester) Witthuhn of Hutchinson, Kansas, Kim (Brent) Theede of Pratt, Kansas; 1 brother, Larry (Daphne) Sowers of Lubbock, Texas; 1 sister, Janie (Troy) Phelan of Shamrock, Texas; 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Sandra Thornton of Amarillo, Texas.
Per his request cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date. The family has established a memorial to the American Cancer Society and gifts may be sent to Old Mission – Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas.
