Obituary

Janice Jordan Shannon, 91, passed away April 25, 2013 at Sandstone Nursing Home in Little River, Kansas. She was born July 16, 1921, in Little River, Kansas, the daughter of Donald and Bertha Jordan.

A graduate of Lyons High School in 1939, she worked in an ammunition plant and an aircraft factory during World War II. She was a professional seamstress by profession; however, her family was her ultimate love and responsibility. She also enjoyed playing the piano, dancing, gardening, and making clothes. She was a member of the Little River First United Methodist Church.

On August 13, 1939, she married Dale Gossman and they divorced at a later date. He died on October 23, 1999. She married Liggett E. "Mike" Shannon on May 4, 1953. He died on October 8, 2012.

Survivors include 2 sons, Don Gossman (Navelle), Dan Shannon (Candy); 1 daughter, JaDala Munson, 8 grandchildren, Dan Gossman (Diana), Kristin Long (Ryan), Dale Munson (Deanna), Matthew Munson, Mary Anne Munson, JaDala Hilliard (Jason), Libby Shannon, Chelsea Shannon. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother and 2 sisters.

Graveside inurnment will be Friday, May 3, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Bean Cemetery in Little River, Kansas. Memorial celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Little River First United Methodist Church, Little River, Kansas. There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place.
