Jerry Milton
Gilkey, Sr.
September 15, 1939 – November 3, 2020
Jerry Milton Gilkey, Sr., 81, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away surrounded by his loving family at his home on November 3, 2020. He was born in Keystone, Oklahoma, September 15, 1939, the son of Durward and Maxine Gilkey. He was a retired machinist for Cessna Corporation.
A veteran of the United States Navy and Army, he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He worked hard to provide for his family, yet also took time to stop and enjoy such things as riding his motorcycle side by side with his son. Family was everything to him.
On December 9, 1962, he married the love of his life, Karen Kay Crist. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his son, Jerry (Dana) M. Gilkey, Jr; his daughter, Brenda (Larry) Musa; 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Jerry also had 5 siblings, Melvin, Fred, David, Tina, and, Nyla.
A come and go gathering for family and friends will be held Friday, November 13, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Old Mission – Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas. A celebration of life with military honors will be held at 1:30 p.m. that afternoon at the funeral home with Pastor Larry Wedel presiding. Burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson, Kansas.
