Obituary

Jimmie Allen Stark was the youngest son born to Leslie and Addie Stark. Jimmie served with the US Army with distinction from May, 1979 to May, 1984. In 1985, Jimmie joined the staff at the Hutchinson Correction Facility as a prison guard, where he worked as a civil servant for thirty-three years.

Jimmie is proceeded in death by his father, Leslie Stark, his sister, Doris Baker, his sister-in-law, Linda Stark and nephew, Mason Medlam. He is survived by his wife of more than 35 years, Kathleen Stark, mother-Addie Stark, brother-Terry Stark, brother-William Stark, sister-Edna Henderson, many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Queen Bess.

Jimmie loved science fiction and historical non-fiction, particularly military history. He was funny, kind and loyal to those he loved. He never complained and always had a chipper word to say to anyone he encountered. He was known far and wide for his dry, funny one-liners.

Jimmie spent the last several years at Diversicare in Hutchinson, KS surrounded by staff who became friends and family he treasured. Up until the moment he drew his last breath, they came into his room to hold his hand and tell him how much he meant to them. He will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jimmie's name can be made to the Hutchinson Animal Shelter, 1501 S Severance St, Hutchinson, KS 67501 to honor Jimmie's love of Queen Bess.
