Joy Yvonne (Long) Nickerson passed away in her home in Hutchinson, KS with her family at her side on November 23, 2022. Joy was born November 13, 1936 in Barnsdall, Oklahoma. She was the second child of seven to Therman Roy "Bud" and Twyla "Shuggie" Mae Hope (Copeland) Long. She lived in Barnsdall and Oil Center, OK  until July 1949 when Bud and Shuggie moved to Bushton, KS. Joy graduated from Bushton High School in May of 1955. On March 17, 1956, she married William "Bill" Nickerson at the Methodist Church in Bushton.

Joy was a wife, mother and grandmother.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Therman "Bud"and Twyla "Shuggie" Long; Sister, Joyce Lorene Long; Brothers, Lloyd Eugene "Genie" Long and Donald Rex Long.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; son, Michael R Nickerson; daughter, Dana Y. Nickerson; granddaughter, Abby Shifflet; brother: Bill Long and wife, Debby; sister, Nadine Oberle and husband, John; sister, Sharon Dohrman and husband, Marvin; Pat (wife of Don Long); and many nieces and nephews.
