Katherine Osler Horn, 97, passed away July 5, 2014 at Hospice House of Reno County, Hutchinson, Kansas. The daughter of Frank and Bertha Osler, she was born July 17, 1916 on the family farmstead in Chase County, Nebraska.As a young girl she attended grade school in Perkins County, Nebraska, and, graduated from South High School in Denver, Colorado. Following graduation she attended the University of Denver for two years. Following her marriage to Clifford Horn in 1935, they moved to State College, Pennsylvania, where in 1940, she completed her bachelor''s degree in psychology. She not only was an educator, but, helped develop the Baker Arts Center in Liberal, Kansas, and was a wonderful artist in her own right. She loved to travel and had visited numerous countries and cultures throughout her life.
After the death of her husband died in 1986, she moved to Hutchinson, Kansas to be near her son, Lee, and her granddaughter, Cathy. Survivors include; granddaughter, Cathy of Hutchinson; a brother, John Osler (Joan) of Imperial, Nebraska; 2 great grand daughters, Whitny Young and Morgan Berryman. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Lee, two brothers, Frank and Robert, and, two sisters, Barbara Mann, and, Dorothy Fuehrer.
Per her request cremation has taken place. There will be a time for the family to receive friends and acquaintances Thursday, July 10 2014 from 4:00 - 8:00 at Old Mission - Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Baker Arts Center and left in care of the funeral home.
