Kenneth Eugene Boyer, Sr., 88, passed away June 4, 2015 at Mennonite Friendship Communities in South Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born February 16, 1927 in Whiting, Kansas, the son of Byron Ora and Vera Lucille (Benfer) Boyer.
Kenneth, a veteran of the United States Navy, served on the USS Latimer during World War II. He retired as a salesman from Western Southern Life Insurance Company and also worked at Dillon''s on 4th Street, Hutchinson. He was a member of Hutchinson First Baptist Church, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No 68, the DAV, and had volunteered for Hospice of Reno County.
On June 25, 1948 he married Wanda C. Adkins in Port Huron, Michigan and they celebrated 66 years of marriage until her death in 2014.
He is survived by his children, Richard of Overland Park, Kansas, Carol (Rod) Frederick of Wichita, Kansas, Robbie (Susan) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kenneth, Jr. (Annette) of South Hutchinson, Kansas, Mark (Lynne) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and his sister, Ella Mae (Carl) Romine of Fall City, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two sisters.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside service with military honors will be Monday, June 29, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for First Baptist Church, Hospice of Reno County, American Legion Post 68, and left in care of the funeral home.
