Kenneth Dale Stropes, Sr., 89, passed away March 28, 2014 at Dillon Living Center, Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born September 14, 1924 in Atchison, Kansas, the son of Lucian and Christy Stropes. He was a furrier by trade.

He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army, where he received both a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a member of the 9th Armored Reunion Association, enjoyed model airplanes, and, loved professional wrestling.

He married Margaret Mae Sieggen on July 27, 1946 in Olathe, Kansas. She died on July 20, 2013. Survivors include 2 sons, Kurt E. Stropes (Jo), Paul L. Stropes (Diane); 3 daughters, Melanie Stropes, Christina Stricker, Jeanette Lazarus, 19 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 grandson, Aaron Finney, and 3 sons.

Public visitation will be Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 10:00 - 2:00 at Old Mission - Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas, with a time of reflection at 12 noon. Inurnment will follow at Eastside Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Kansas Fallen Veterans Association and left in care of the funeral home.
