Obituary

Larrey Jefferson Cole, 72, passed away February 5, 2014 at the Newton Medical Center in Newton, Kansas. The son of Thomas and Gertie Cole, he was born June 9, 1941 in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

A veteran of the United States Army, he served his country for four years in Munich, Germany. Upon his discharge he retuned home and served as a auto mechanic for years. He was an avid fisherman, loved working puzzles, loved letting his kids beat him in chess, listening to 50''s and 60''s music, playing pool, bowling, was a member of the MOOSE Lodge, Eagles, and the National Rifle Association.

On December 26, 1959, he married Alice Crenshaw in Hutchinson, Kansas. Even though they later divorced they remained life long friends. She survives.

Other survivors include 3 sons, Larey, Sr, Carl (Lynda), and, Lonnie Cole; 2 daughters Anna Pennel (John), and, Aleena Greever (Gary); 2 brothers Meredith (Donna), Gerald (Sherry) Cole; 2 sisters Oretha Watkins (Ronald), Leah Kay Kile, Betty Jo McKenna; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, and one daughter in law.

Per his request cremation has taken place. A public celebration will be held on Friday, February 14, 2014 at 11:00am at Full Gospel Church, 414 E. G Street in Hutchinson, Kansas. In lieu of flowers the family has set up a memorial fund to the Kansas Arthritis Foundation or the American Cancer Society and may be left in care of the funeral home.
