Obituary

Larry Dean Harper "Deanie" of Hutchinson, KS, passed away peacefully in his sleep August 21, 2018 at his home surrounded by family.
He is survived by daughters Kim Longacre of Hutchinson, Angie Harper of Paola, sister Joyce Hindman of Haven, brothers Don (Jacki) of Burrton, Ron (Ming) of Altamonte Springs, FL, and Keith (Nancy) of Gilbert, AZ, grandsons Cory Longacre (Carlin) of Lockesburg, Arkansas, Brian Bernard (Kelsey) of Wichita, granddaughter Lexi Longacre (Ric) of Derby, Micaela Garcia and Emma Garcia, Hutchinson. He was blessed with 3 great grandsons, Jalen, Jaydon and Kai'son, and two great granddaughters, Jossilyn and Aria. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Edith Harper, brother Leroy, sisters Virginia, Faye, and Melissa.
He was born in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and later moved to Mt. Hope, KS.
He served in the US Navy from 1962 to 1965 based in Norfolk, VA. He was a welder for most of his working career, and later delivered various commercial and recreational vehicles throughout the US. Deanie enjoyed spending time with family and grandchildren, camping and fishing. His many creative hobbies included woodworking, candle making, and baking, with a valiant effort towards creating the perfect sour dough bread.
He is remembered for his selfless heart, and special gift of connecting with kids, a favorite uncle of many.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 1, at the Mount Hope Community Center. 315 South King, Mount Hope, Kansas at 1:00 p.m.
