Larry D. Schmidt, 82, of Hutchinson, KS, peacefully went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Hospice House in Hutchinson.

He was born December 28, 1943 in Goessel, KS to Adolf and Susie (Bergen) Schmidt.  On August 24, 1995, he married Anita Jane Wells.

He had many occupations including teaching, coaching, banking, car sales, and transportation for Mennonite Manor.  He enjoyed all kinds of sports (playing, coaching, and watching), taking his daughters, Cari and Traci fishing in Colorado, the Kansas City Chiefs, pool fun & parties with his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. He loved with all of his heart and knew how to have fun.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Schmidt. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Anita; children, Christina (John) Moody of Buhler, KS; BJ (Kurt) Graber of Wichita, KS; Marty (Darla) Robbins of Hutchinson, KS; Cari (Brian) Devlin of Boulder, CO; Bobbie Jo (Roger) ONeal of Newton, KS; Traci (Danny) Rutland of Augusta, KS.  He is also survived by his sister, Janice Sivertson of Minnesota, several nieces and nephews, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his loyal friends & beloved dogs, Bubby and Mia. He was loved by too many to count.

Celebration of Life will be at 11am on Saturday, Feb.21st at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints ~ 518 E 43rd St., Hutchinson, KS.  Cremation has taken place.
