Laura Jean Perez, 56, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away August 26, 2020 at Good Samaritan Village, Hutchinson, Kansas.

Laura was born July 7, 1964 to Elsie May Dean.  She was born into a large family, with 3 brothers and 3 sisters.  At 19, in 1983, Laura gave birth to her first daughter, Lauren.  Shortly after that she had two stillborn sons, Ricky and Derrick.  The death of her boys always filled Laura with grief and sadness.  She selflessly placed Lauren in her fathers care so she could grieve and live her life in only a way Laura could.  In 1996, Laura had her second daughter, Stephani.  She went on to be Stephani's preschool teacher, and then a bus driver for quite some time.  She loved driving the bus for middle and high schoolers.  She would teach the girls how to braid, and play popular music during their bus ride.  She always spoke fondly of her times as a bus driver.  In 2003 Laura gave birth to her third and final daughter, Joei.  Laura's life was full of happiness and laughter, and she loved her daughters with all of her heart.  From taking them to concerts, shopping malls, theme parks and everything in between.  She loved to make her daughters happy.  In August of 2019 she was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer.  She fought hard to stay strong, for her grandson's Joshua and Ezekiel.  Laura loved being a grandmother, with all of her heart.  She spent every moment she could with her grandsons.  They truly kept her alive.  But on August 26th, 2020, at 3:45 a.m., her hard fought battle came to an end.

She is survived by her siblings; Linda Saren, Sharon Bennett, Sally Lillis, Larry Bennett, Joe Bennett, and George Hoffman.  Her daughters; Lauren Allison, Stephani Ruiz, and Joei Perez.  And her grandsons; Joshua Sarrach, and Ezekiel Smith.

Her wish was to be cremated and buried with her sons, this will take place at a later date.  The family is having a balloon release in honor of Laura, on Saturday September 5th, at 6:00 p.m., at the river in Carey Park.  Anyone who was close to Laura is welcome to attend.
