Lawrence (Larry) Charles Norton, 69, left this earth on July 3, 2014 to be with his Heavenly Father and his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born in Batavia, New York to Albert and Sarah Norton on December 27, 1944. At the age of 3 years old his parents moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he lived until graduating from Washington High School in 1962.Larry then attended Northern Arizona University, but his education was interrupted by the U S Army. After serving his country for two years, which included a tour of Vietnam, he returned to complete his education at NAU with a BA in Business Administration
After graduating from NAU he went to work for Fruehauf Trailers in Phoenix, Arizona. There he met and married Anita Kay Brawner on August 19, 1972. He was transferred to the Spokane, Washington branch for a year and a half, then on to Salt Lake City, Utah for eight years and then to the Wichita, Kansas branch.He worked in Parts and Sales for Fruehauf Trailers for a total of 20 years. After Fruehauf closed down their operation in Wichita, Larry finished out his career working as a salesman for Ray''s Petroleum Equipment Company and then HomeDepot where he recently retired in 2013.He served as an Elder for the Haven Church of Christ for many years. Larry and his family have dedicated their lives to the work of the Lord Jesus Christ in many capacities throughout the years.
He is survived by his wife, Anita, their two children, son, Adam, his wife, Christy, and their 5 children who live in Longview, Texas; daughter, Lorisa, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; a sister, Sue Merriott of Phoenix, Arizona, plus several nieces and nephews. Larry''s body has been donated to KU Medical Center for research.
A celebration of life will be held at Haven Church of Christ on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 3:00 pm with a meal for family and friends to follow.Memorials may be sent to the Haven Church of Christ, or, Interim Home Healthcare and Hospice in care of Old Mission - Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N.
