Obituary

Lawrence Edward Ward, 75, of Hutchinson, KS, passed away peacefully at his home June 11, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born September 15, 1948, to Earl and Georgia (Penry) Ward in Holton, Kansas.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his adopted in love son, James and wife Christina Smith of Hutchinson, daughter Jeanette and husband Bryant Williams of Hutchinson, brother, Gary Ward of Arizona, sister Earlene Shaw, adopted in love sister Nell Waterman of West Virginia, grandchildren, Brock, Aaron, Lance, Andrew (Marcella) Smith, Bryce (Jennifer) Smith, Jessica (Malcolm) Deason, and 10 great grandchildren.

Lawrence was very dedicated and compassionate. He was a United States Navy Vet and worked for the Highway Patrol for many years. Lawrence was a school bus driver for Durham School Service, was a BTW Trainer for Durham, and truly loved his job. He loved the special needs children he transported and will be greatly missed by his work family at Durham School Service. Lawrence also enjoyed fishing and spending time with those close to him.

Lawrence will be laid to rest at a veteran's cemetery, date and time to be announced. There will be a celebration of life at CrossPoint Church, Saturday June 22. 2024 at 10:00am.
