Linda Kay Shook passed away at home on July 8, 2020 at the age of 66. Linda was born in Sterling, Kansas on July 26, 1953 to her parents Robert Dwain and Lola May Amend. She grew up in Leadville, Colorado. She graduated from high school in Sterling and then moved to California. From there she moved to Michigan, where she met her husband at a church function. On June 19, 1980 she married Earl D. Shook in Ohio. In 1982 she moved with her husband to San Antonio, Texas, where they had two sons. The family then moved to Lyons, Kansas in 1988 to be near her family. On January 26, 2014, Linda had a double lung transplant in St. Louis. Following the transplant, they moved from Lyons to Hutchinson, Kansas. She was a very caring person with a heart of service to others. She was a firm believer in God and His Son Jesus Christ. She was selfless in her care for others, even taking care of her mom after her transplant. She loved the outdoors and animals of all kinds. She loved to travel, going to parks, museums and Botanical Gardens, but most of all spending time with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lola Amend.
She is survived by: her husband of the home, Earl Shook of Hutchinson, Kansas; her daughter, Elissa Goldman of Montclair, New Jersey; her son, Justin shook and his wife Sohna and her granddaughter Olivia of Andover, Kansas; her son, Noah and his wife Elisabeth of Boise, Idaho; her brother, Butch Amend of Larned, Kansas; her sister Marlene Buck and her husband Herschel of Georgetown, Texas; her brother Mickel Amend and his wife Jolene of Marysville, Washington; her brother Danny Amend of Arlington, Kansas; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Cremation has taken place, and a private service will be held with the family.
Donations to the Mid-American Transplant Center are requested in lieu of flowers, in care of: Old Mission-Heritage Funeral Home, 528 North Main Street, Hutchinson, Kansas 67501
