Lucinda Pearl Burris, 85, passed away, Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Mennonite Friendship Manor, South Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born January 10, 1928 south of Turon, Kansas, the daughter of Omer and Mary Davis Tope.
A resident of Hutchinson since 1956, moving from Arlington, she was a devoted mother and homemaker until moving to Mennonite Friendship Manor in 2002. She loved to play piano and was a member of Believers Tabernacle Church, in Hutchinson. She touched many people throughout her life and will be greatly missed by her family and all of her friends at Mennonite Friendship Manor and Believers Tabernacle Church.
On April 11, 1947, she married Bryce Burris in Kingman, Kansas. He passed away on October 18, 2005. Other survivors include two daughters, Susan Medeiros (Denis) of Prairie Village, Ks, Marcia Michel (Stan) of Kiowa, Ks; 2 sisters, Wilma Jean Clemments of Hutchinson, Ks, Mary Frances Shelley of Derby, Ks, 1 brother Laverne (Bobby) Tope (Betty) of Roseberg, Oregon, 3 grandsons and 4 great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Public visitation will be held Friday, July 5, 2013 from 9:00 - 11:00 AM with memorial celebration to follow at 11:00 AM at Old Mission - Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Ks. Private family burial will take place in Turon Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made out to either Mennonite Friendship Manor or Believers Tabernacle Church and left in care of the funeral home.
