Luther " Bo" Tolbert, 76, of Hutchinson, Kansas achieved his sunset on November 2, 2020 in Hutchinson, Kansas. His sunrise came on October 24, 1944 in Stuttgart, Arkansas, the son of Andrew Tolbert and Izora Timmons. He was a retired welding specialist for Krause Plow of Hutchinson, Kansas.
He was a staple of the usher board at Second Missionary Baptist Church in Hutchinson. He was an avid gardener, and was known as the "sweet potato man" for his ability to grow the perfect sweet potato. A graduate of Holman High School in Stuttgart, Arkansas, he enjoyed sports, particularly football. His grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life.
Survivors include: 1 son, Martin Tolbert; 2 daughters, Tan Tolbert and Neako Tolbert; 1 brother, Glenn Tolbert; 1 sister, Pauline Nelson; 6 grandchildren, Jerimiah Tolbert, Jazzmyn Tolbert, Martin Tolbert II, Ja'Kell Tolbert, MaLieque Tolbert, Luther Tolbert; 2 great grandchildren, Felicity and Rawlin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, former wife, Martha Tolbert, 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
A come and go gathering for friends to sign the book will be from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Old Mission-Heritage Funeral Home, 528 North Main Street, Hutchinson, Kansas. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Second Missionary Baptist Church, 1008 North Ford Street, Hutchinson, Kansas. Burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery, 500 S. Cleveland Street, Hutchinson, Kansas.
