Mary Gertrude Manges, 82, passed away at Prairie Sunset Home, Pretty Prairie, Kansas, December 6, 2016. The daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Adkins, she was born on February 6, 1934 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. She was a loving and caring homemaker.
She was an avid outdoors person who loved hunting and fishing, was a keen shopper, loved bowling, reading, playing cards, and always had Pink Floyd or Garth Brooks playing in the background.
She married James E. Manges, Sr., and he preceded her in death. Other survivors include 2 sons, James E. (Janie) Manges, Jr., Christopher S. Lacy; 1 daughter, Julia M. (Scott) Manges-Hoffman; 1 brother, Thomas Atkins; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, and 2 sons, Richard D. Lacy and William T. Lacy.
A gathering for family and friends will be held Monday, December 12, 2016 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Old Mission - Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas. A celebration of life will be held December 13, 2016 at 10:30 am at the funeral home with Father Ned Blick, presiding. Interment will follow at Memorial Cemetery, Hutchinson, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund to Dillon Nature Center and gifts may be left in care of the funeral home.
