Mildred Maxine "McCoy" Taylor, 95, died Sept. 2, 2011, at Dillon Living Center. She was born Aug. 24, 1916, at Green Leaf, Kan., the daughter of Earl Nash Durham and Gertrude P. Zinn Durham, moving to Hutchinson at the age of 16.
She worked at Jeanne Drapers and Wiley's Drapers, retiring from Wiley's. She attended Castleton Union Church until moving to Dillon Living Center in year 2001. On June 2, 1935, she married Gayle E. Taylor; he died Oct. 29, 1993. Survivors include: two sons, Roy A. Taylor of El Dorado and Michael K. Taylor and wife Elizabeth A. of Hutchinson; six grandchildren, Mike Grabham and wife Patti of Seattle, Wash., Jay Grabham, Danny Taylor of Wichita, Shawn Sill and husband Phillip of Tribune, Kan., Ron Taylor, Carla Wightman and husband Luke, all of Hutchinson; six great-grandchildren, Jonathan Sill of Manhattan, Kan., Owen Sill and wife Jessi of Fort Sill, Okla., Michele Sill of Tribune, Kan., Danielle Taylor and Kimberly Fox of Hutchinson, and Andrew Fox of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four great great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Lena McCoy of Hutchinson, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Durham; her mother, Gertrude (Durham) McCoy; stepfather, Allen McCoy; two sisters, Bonnie Jean Crow and Gwendolyn McCreary; two brothers, Kenneth McCoy and Allen McCoy; a daughter-in-law, Nan Taylor; a granddaughter, Jill McCoy; and a grandson, James B. Taylor.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Old Mission-Heritage Funeral Home, Hutchinson. A graveside service will be at Fairlawn Cemetery in Hutchinson Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at 2:30 p.m., with Pastor Robert Ulrich officiating. Memorials may be sent to Dillon Living Center, in care of the funeral home.
