Nadean "Grammy" Clapper, 81, passed away Sept. 11, 2016, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson. She was born July 3, 1935, in Peggs, Okla., the daughter of Orville and Delorous Rice.
She was a retired employee from Jack and Jill Food Markets. Besides doing crossword puzzles, watching NASCAR and bull riding, she was also a huge fan of watching old western movies. Her passion and drive in life was her family.
On Feb. 2, 1952, she married Earl E. Clapper. He preceded her in death May 20, 1993. Other survivors include: a son, Jim Clapper and a daughter, Sheryl (Anthony) Babson, both of Hutchinson; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Wesley and Steve; a brother Conley Rice; and a great-grandson, Mason.
Gathering for friends and family will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at Old Mission-Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson. Graveside Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, at Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, the family has established the Nadean "Grammy" Clapper Family Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.
