Patsy C. Oliver, 90, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Patsy lived a life filled with music, service, creativity, and devotion to those she loved most.
Born to George and Avis Maynard on June 10, 1935. Patsy grew into a woman whose kindness, warmth, and talents touched countless lives. She was a gifted musician who loved to sing and play the piano, ukulele, and guitar. Music was woven throughout her life from her involvement with Sweet Adelines in Lyons, Ks to performing with In Folk Motion in Apache Junction, Az. Her love of music brought joy to everyone around her.
Patsy worked as Secretary for the Board of Education, Music Department in Hutchinson, Ks and later as a paraprofessional at Lyons High School, Lyons, Ks where she cared deeply for students and staff alike. She worked at the YMCA in Hutchinson, Ks where she was a swimming instructor through the Red Cross and proudly earned a swimming medal in the Senior Olympics in Arizona.
Beyond her many accomplishments, Patsy was a wonderful cook, devoted homemaker, and talented crafter. More than anything, she cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. Her gentle spirit, sense of humor, and loving heart will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her children, Michael McCoy (Heather) Hudson, FL; Pamela Plum (Kerry) Hutchinson, KS, Michelle McCoy-Carr, Wellington, CO, and Mark McCoy (Carol) Hutchinson, KS; the father of her children Martin McCoy, Hutchinson, Ks; her sisters, Bonnie Holmes, TX; Betty Wood, CA; 11 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren, 9 Great Great Grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Avis Maynard, her husband Guy H. Oliver; and her brothers, Gene Maynard, Jerrold “Curly” Maynard, and Kenneth “Jack” Maynard.
Burial services will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at 12:00 pm, Fairlawn Cemetery, 2401 Carey Blvd., Hutchinson, Ks. Flowers may be sent to Old Mission-Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main Street, Hutchinson, Ks.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to local hospice providers in Patsy’s honor.
