Obituary

Ralph U. (Skip) Nester, was born March 20, 1928, in Elkhart, Kansas. He was the son of Ralph Jackson and Pauline Atkins Nester. Ralph moved to Hutchinson at an early age. He retired from Plumbing in 1990 and he was a plumber and A.C. man for the Stevens for 31 years and with Sturgeon for 10 years. He served 40 months in active duty in the South Pacific with the Navy and he also belonged to the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union #171 in Wichita.Ralph was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, #1361, Fraternal Order of the Eagle, #2550 and the Loyal Order of the Moose , #982.Ralph enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, sports and fishing and loved to travel. He was a good husband and father and loved having his 13 children and 46 grandchildren and 107 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren with him. Ralph married Madeline Brandt in 1944, Freeda Belt Wiseley in 1972 and Ella Nadine Nicker in 2003, who survives him. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, sons Dennis Nester, Robert Dieker, daughter Debbie Price and son-in-law Kerry Marsh. A memorial service will be Thursday, November 3, 2022, 10 am, at Wildmead Cemetery in Nickerson, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the VFW.
