Richard "Dick" Earl McCoy, 85, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away May 7, 2019 at Diversicare Health and Rehabilitation, Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born on May 25, 1933 in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of Kenneth and Violet McCoy. He was a retired employee of T & E Oil of Hutchinson, Kansas.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He was diligent in taking care of his yard – it was always immaculate! He took time to teach his daughter how to take care of her yard as well.

Survivors include 1 daughter, Julie McCoy; 1 sister, Nancy (Sam) Huston; 1 brother, Joel (Cheryl) Piatt; 3 nieces, Sharon Mangels, Debbie (Bill) Barby, Joni (Bill) Hafner; his friend and former wife, Maggie Mullins. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter, Kristy, 1 brother, Jack Piatt, 1 sister, Marjorie Mangels.

A celebration of life will be held Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Brookdale Senior Living Center, 2416 Brentwood Street, Hutchinson, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be to Hutchinson Humane Society, The Salvation Army, or the Hutchinson Soup Kitchen and left in care of Old Mission – Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas.
