Obituary

Richard Franklin McFadden, 85, passed away April 3, 2014 at The Cedars Medical unit, McPherson, Kansas. He was born September 27, 1928 in Riverside, California, the son of John Buel and Grace May Baker McFadden. He was a retired over the road truck driver.

After moving to Kansas at an early age, he attended Riley County schools and graduated from Keats High School in 1946. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1951 and was veteran of the Korean War. He was discharged from the Army in 1954. After his discharge he worked for Mayflower Trucking for 10 years and then went to work for Warren Trucking. He retired in 1997 and lived in Windom, Kansas.

On December 5, 2008 he married Jessie Lynn Vitek at the McPherson County Courthouse in McPherson, Kansas. She preceded him in death on December 19, 2013.

He is survived by 4 brothers, John of Wilsey, Kansas; Gerald (Marilyn) of Nampa, Idaho; Byron (Carol) of Hillsboro, Kansas; Bruce of Circleville, Kansas; 1 sister, Ahola (Larry) Hinson of Holton, Kansas; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and, a great nephew.

Cremation has taken place and inurnment will take place at a later date. A memorial fund has been established in the name of the Richard F. McFadden Family Memorial, and, gifts may be left with Old Mission - Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas.
